Cookie Policy
This site sets no cookies at all until you sign in, and there is no banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Nothing while you are a visitor
Read the pricing page, the terms, this page — nothing is stored on your machine and nothing is counted. We checked this rather than assuming it: a request for a page as a stranger comes back with no cookie set.
There is no analytics service on this site, and no script of any kind is loaded from anywhere else. The typefaces are served from this server, not from Google's, precisely so that reading a page does not tell a third party you did.
When you sign in
WordPress, which this site is built on, sets a small number of cookies so that the next page knows it is still you:
- wordpress_logged_in_… — that you are signed in, and as whom. Without it every page would ask you to sign in again. It lasts the browser session, or two weeks if you ticked “keep me signed in”.
- wordpress_sec_… — the same thing for the administration area.
- wp-settings-… — small preferences inside the administration area, such as which panels you left open.
These are necessary for a service you have to sign in to use, which is why they need no consent. None of them follows you to another site, and none is readable by anybody but this one.
Forms you fill in
The sign-in, sign-up and password pages are marked so that no cache — ours, your browser's, or one in between — keeps a copy. That is not tracking; it is the opposite. Each of those pages carries a one-time key, and a stored copy would go on handing out a key that has expired.
Getting rid of them
Sign out and the signed-in cookies go. Your browser can also delete them, and the only consequence is that you will be asked to sign in again.
When this changes
A payment provider will set cookies of its own on the page where you pay. When one is added, this list grows before that page appears, not after.
If anything is ever added that is not strictly necessary, there will be a proper choice about it, not a banner that only says yes.
